ROSSFORD, Ohio (WUPW) - Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the city of Toledo you might not have heard about.
The paddle sport is a cross between tennis and ping pong. A Pickleball Club of Greater Toledo has even been established.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the Pickleball courts at the Rossford Community Recreation Center are packed with players, a joint effort with the Wood County Committee on Aging.
Pickleball does not include pickles. The founding family who invented the game in 1965 had a dog named Pickles and they used his ball, said Jeff Foster.
The game is played to 11 and you must win by 2. The net is about three-feet high and the minimum court size is 30-by-60 feet.
