BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green community member Scott Slater, a long-time supporter of the Bowling Green State University hockey program, said Friday he and his family are donating $250,000 to the Bring Back the Glory campaign.
The gift is a cash/planned gift combination benefiting the Falcon hockey program and the Ice Arena.
“Scott and his family have been loyal supporters of Falcon hockey for decades,” BG athletics director Greg Christopher said. “Their generosity is helping us take another step towards rebuilding the program and securing its long-term future. Thanks to leaders like Scott, we are on the home stretch of the campaign with our $5 million goal within sight.”
The Slater family is a fixture at the Ice Arena and Scott has been a season-ticket holder since his college days.
All six of his children have been active in youth and high school hockey and figure skating.
All four of his sons competed on highly successful Bowling Green High School hockey teams, with two winning state titles and two earning at least one state runner-up. Both daughters were figure skaters.
