COLUMBUS, Ohio - Expectations for William Buford to take his game to the next level are obviously national after the former Libbey star was chosen to be on the USA Select squad.
The group's a team of 20 top college prospects from around the country. They'll be training with the USA Basketball national team in Las Vegas from July 19-24. It's preparation as the national team gears up for the FIFA World Championships.
Buford was a McDonald's All-American in his time at Libbey High School. He followed that up by being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. In his sophomore season, he finished second on the team in scoring to the recently-drafted Evan Turner. Buford is expected to be the likely go-to guy in Columbus next season.
