UT women win 1st

Mays scores 1000th career point

TOLEDO, Ohio - Tricia Cullop wanted more intensity after her UT women lost the season opener against Northwestern.

Against Cleveland State, she got that intensity.

Toledo defeated Cleveland State 72-62. The Lady Rockets controlled the tempo, pulling away with a 22-8 run in the second half.

Four Rockets scored in double figures. Allie Clifton led the way with 22 points. Naama Shafir chipped in 15.

Also, a milestone was reached during the game. Senior Tanika Mays scored her 1000th career point.

The Rockets will now head on the road on Wednesday when they travel to play Oakland University.
