TOLEDO, Ohio - Yolanda Richardson showed Toledo fans what they can probably expect in the next four years - dominance in the low post - in a 68-50 win over St. Peter's.
The former Start Spartan had her coming-out party, blocking five shots to go along with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The 13 points were second to Tanika Mays' 14 on the afternoon as the Rockets overcame a slow start in which they miss their first eight shots of the game.
It was around that point when Tricia Cullop first inserted Richardson into the game off the bench, and the true freshman responded. After former Northview star Lisa Johnson gave UT a 19-17 lead, Richardson hit a bucket to make it 21-18, spurring a 10-3 run to end the half, capped off by a Naama Shafir buzzer-beating lay-up.
From that point on, there was no stopping the Rockets from picking up victory number three on the season.
