TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Even though a month has passed, the Dundee, Delta, Millbury and Lake Township communities continue to pick up the pieces and rebuild from the June twister outbreak that killed six people.

Many local organizations are reaching out to help, including the Toledo Mud Hens.

This Saturday, July 10, the Mud Hens will wear and then auction specially made Hawaiian jerseys with the money going to Lake High School.

Each year the Mud Hens wear special jerseys for auction to raise money for charity. This year, the group didn't have to look far to find a very worthy cause.

Out of all the tornadoes that impacted the region, a twister with winds of 175 mph destroyed Lake High School. It was one of the most devastating tornadoes tio ever hit Northwest Ohio.

But thanks to the Mud Hens, the minds of those that lived through June 5-6, are at least a little more at ease.

"The Hawaiian shirts are neat," said Jason Griffin, Mud Hens media relations. "I think they are going to be very popular. I always gauge it on how the players react when they see it, and when I walked through the clubhouse with this, I got a lot of, Hey all right, those are cool.'"

The Hawaiian jerseys are blue with red Hens script. They have white Hibiscus, birds and a drinking glass.

"I think the players are looking forward to it, and the fans will bid early and often," Griffin said.

The Mud Hens are hoping to raise several thousand dollars to help the Lake High School community get back on its feet.
