TOLEDO, Ohio - Saturday high school playoff football proved one thing: playoff seeding truly doesn't affect the end result.

Whitmer was coming off its first ever City League football championship. The Panthers were seeded first in their Division I region. However, their season ended Saturday night to 8th-seeded Canton McKinley 34-13. Joe Missler only managed to get in for one play during the game, but quarterback or no quarterback, McKinley took it straight at the Panthers from the get go. McKinley QB Kyle Ohradzansky threw for 2 scores and ran for another. The Panthers fell behind 20-0 in the first half and did not recover.

In Division IV, Eastwood got into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, but they certainly didn't play like it. The Eagles dominated top-seeded Galion 35-6.

Fellow SLL playoff participant Genoa also dominated. The Comets stayed perfect on the year with a 62-7 win over Edison. Genoa actually trailed for the first all year at 7-0, but obviously, they were just fine after that.

Elsewhere in DIV, Ottawa-Glandorf doubled up Triway 28-14.

In Division VI, winners included Hopewell-Loudon, Leipsic over Fremont St. Joseph, Ada over Cory-Rawson and Carey over Columbus Grove.
