TIFFIN, Ohio - In advancing to state, Ottawa-Glandorf showed that being a special football team involves being special on special teams.

A mere blocked extra point was the difference for the Titans as they defeated Orrville 21-20 in Division IV regional final action at Tiffin's Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

Defeating Orrville is not considered an easy task. After all, these opponents had ended a perfect Genoa season the previous week.

However, the Titans hung tough in the first half, even while squandering numerous opportunities in Red Rider territory. O-G's first drive ended at the Orrville four yard line with no points. Their next drive ended inside the 25 yard line. Again, no points.

Orrville would score first in the game, but Lucas Coffman finally put the Titans on the board in the second quarter with a 3-yard run to tie it 7-7. Right before the half, though, Orrville scored a touchdown to go into the locker room up 14-7 at the break.

The second half was more of the same from a competitive standpoint, but after the Red Riders scored to make it 20-14, their extra point was blocked. At that point, no one could predict how crucial that one point would be.

However, with about four minutes left in the game, Ottawa-Glandorf found the end zone and unlike their counterpoints, they made their PAT and with that, they earned a trip to the state semifinals.
