TOLEDO, Ohio - Michigan continued its recent recruiting dominance of track & field athletes from Northwest Ohio with SJJ's Cody Riffle signing with the Wolverines.
Last year, Riffle finished second in the state in the discus and third for shot put. He's been told that he may participate in as many as four throwing events in his time in Ann Arbor.
The St. John's Titan continues a recent trend of local athletes turning to the maize and blue. Bowsher's Meshawn Graham and Woodmore's Emily Pendleton signed with Michigan two years ago. Last year, Pendleton's sister Erin became a Wolverine.
Michigan's track coach, Fred LaPlante, is actually a Bowsher graduate himself. Riffle told FOX Toledo that LaPlante says he likes to get the best of the local crop, so to speak.
So now, the seeds have been planted. It's time to see Riffle's potential grow as a Michigan Wolverine starting with the 2010-11 season.
