Brock Mealer walks

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WUPW) - In front of over 113,000 fans at the Big House, Brock Mealer took the biggest steps in his life.

Mealer had been paralyzed from the waist down in a Christmas Eve car accident several years back that injured his brother, Michigan offensive lineman Elliott, and killed Elliott's girlfriend as well as their father.

Doctors gave Brock only a 1% chance of ever walking again. But on Saturday afternoon, Brock rose from his wheelchair, and with the assistance of two canes, walked from the sideline to the "Go Blue" banner halfway across the field with his family flanking him.
