MONCTON, Canada - Erin Pendleton was a champion discus thrower at Woodmore High School. Now she's doing it on the world stage.

On Thursday night, Pendleton won a silver medal for the discus at the World Junior Championships.

According to Pendleton's father Mike, this makes Pendleton only the third American woman in the last 26 years to medal in the event.

Pendleton was the 2009 OHSAA discus state champion.
