TONTOGANY, Ohio (WUPW) - Football can be a difficult game.
It takes a lot of natural physical ability to survive and thrive on the field.
Imagine playing the game with the use of prosthetics. Twelve-year-old A.J. Digby of Tontogany is doing just that.
A.J was born with a rare medical condition that caused deformities in both feet. Doctors would eventually have to amputate.
But it hasn't stopped A.J. one bit. He plays quarterback on offense and linebacker on defense for the seventh grade Otsego Knight junior high football team.
A.J. absolutely loves football and all sports. He vows not to let anything stand in his way.
"I just like the aroma and sense of football going on," he said. "Once it hits fall, football season is going again, my mind lights up like a firework. I can feel me again."
"He's an absolute wonderful kid," said Jon Rife, head coach. "He never complains. He comes out every day, works hard. He wants to be on all kinds of defense and special teams. He's an extremely hard worker and a great kid."
A.J's first game is Thursday night. He says it doesn't matter what position he plays, he just enjoys being out on the field.
