VILLAGE OF DUNDEE, Mich. - The River Raisin has spilled its banks in Dundee, Mich., causing the village to declare an emergency. Village President Tod O'Lone declared a state of emergency Thursday at around 1 p.m.
The emergency was called as heavy rain earlier in the week forced the River Raisin to overflow its normal banks, causing flooding in the village.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has closed the M-50 bridge over the River Raisin in both directions. High water in the river is causing standing water on the roadway.
A detour is posted. Traffic will be directed to US-23, Ida West Road, Dixon Road and Lewis Avenue while the bridge is closed.
MDOT estimates the closure will be in effect for about 48 hours.
