PORT CLINTON - The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department issued a summary Thursday evening of the March 12 meeting evaluating last month’s costly ice rescue efforts.
The rescue of more than 100 anglers stranded on an ice flow Feb. 7 cost the U.S. Coast Guard more than a quarter million dollars and local agencies more than $20,000.
More than 50 people turned out for the public meeting to give input on how to avoid similar incidents in the future.
