TIFFIN, OHIO - According to the FBI, Adam Cuomo admitted to recruiting UT football and basketball players in a point-shaving scheme that investigators believe took place between 2003 and 2006.

Cuomo was buried on the bench as a Toledo running back between 2001 and 2004. However, he did play on a special teams unit headed by current Tiffin University head coach Dave Walkosky.

"I think it's a surprise any time you hear a young man in college football, with allegations like this going against him. It's an awful thing, but we ran a disciplined program, and all the head coaches under (Gary) Pinkel and (Tom) Amstutz are in a shock... I'm sure to both of them."

Walkosky added, "He seemed like a great kid. Good personality. Young man. Anytime you're in a program, you have disciplined young men, and we felt that he was 1 of those young men."

Asked to put himself in a situation where he was a teammate with someone in Adam Cuomo's current position, Walkosky said, "I don't even know if I could put myself in that position. I don't know how I'd react. It's crazy. It's a crazy thing, and it's so uncommon. I don't even know how I'd react."

"You've got 105 guys workin' hard for the common goal - to win and win championships, and then 1 guy makes a mistake, it shouldn't hurt the rest of the team."

The one game specifically mentioned in the FBI documents was the 2005 GMAC Bowl, a game Toledo won 45-13 over UTEP. Walkosky finds it hard to believe that anything shady happened during that game, but only time will tell as to what really went on, according to the FBI.
