TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo elects a new mayor Tuesday, but Monday night both men
made their last minute pushes to rally as many votes as possible.
Independent Mike Bell hit the streets of South Toledo
knocking on doors and trying to meet face to face with a last
couple of voters.
After a rally in Central Toledo, Keith Wilkowski and his
volunteers hit the phones again, trying to find some last minute
voters.
So Fox Toledo let each candidate make one last pitch for
those on the fence.
"I have never, as a public servant, let the population I
serve down and so if I'm taking on this particular task they need
to understand I will bring the same type of professional and
intensity," said Bell.
"We can bring jobs to Toledo, we can focus on the economy to
turn things around, that's what our campaign's been about from the
very beginning, that's what it's been about to this very day and
through tomorrow," said Wilkowski.
Wilkowski says the biggest issue he's heard on the campaign
trail is bringing jobs back to the city. Bell has heard similar
comments, with a focus on safety forces as well.
While neither takes the job until after the first of the year
officially, the work will start very soon. The 2010 budget needs to
be given to the city council Nov. 15.
