MAUMEE - Most of A.J. Nye's young life has been full of doctor visits and health concerns.
He is a northwest Ohio teen who has had three transplants, and he's only 15 years old.
After all he has gone through, A.J. has a positive attitude. He is also looking forward to a fresh start as he starts high school at Maumee High School.
"I have to take a whole bunch of medicines a day, and I probably couldn't even name all of them and I have to keep myself cleaner than most people," said A.J.
The constant health awareness comes from the teen's past. A.J. was born with his intestines outside his body, and was diagnosed with a condition called gastroschisis.
So far, A.J. has had a liver, small bowel, and a pancreatic transplant.
It has been quite an emotional journey for this young man, and his mother Allison Irons.
"I wouldn't be the same person if I hadn't had all of that stuff happen to me, I'd be a totally different person," said A.J.
A.J. wants to be a graphic designer when he grows up.
On a side note, A.J.'s mom just gave birth to a baby girl Monday morning.
