TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo Public Schools Superintendent John Foley shared the final student suspension and expulsion rates for the 2008-2009 school year Wednesday morning.

Compared to the 2007-208 school year, there was a 17.7 percent reduction in suspensions, and a 9.5 percent decline in expulsions.

Parent participation and school administrator utilizing alternative options to suspending or expelling a student have helped in the progress.

Meanwhile, the Board of Education and TPS administration are working to complete a massive update to the district's policy manual.

The BOE is seeking community input on the revisions. Check out the district's board policy manual. You will need to log-in and create a password to access the revisions.

Check out  www.tps.org and find the policy manual section to read over the current policies.
