DOWNTOWN TOLEDO - Fausto Carmona may still not be the same Fausto Carmona that won 19 games for Cleveland, but he proved that he can still, at the very least, shut down Triple-A hitting.

Carmona was the starting pitcher for Columbus as the Clippers beat the Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field 8-1.

Carmona went 5 innings, giving up a run on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts. The only damage done against him was an opening-inning home run by Wilkin Ramirez.

Carmona also ran into trouble in the 3rd inning, but he got out of the bases-loaded, 1-out jam by getting Jeff Larish to ground into an inning-ending double play.

Ramirez led the Hens hitting-wise, with the home run part of a 3-3 performance. However, the rest of the team could only manage 5 hits total.

Toledo now will have an off day before playing 6 straight home games in 6 days.
