Body found washed up near Luna Pier

LUNA PIER, MI - Unsuspecting kayakers stumbled upon a gruesome discovery Thursday.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office received a call about 5 p.m. from a resident of La Salle, Mich. who was kayaking with his sons near Toledo Beach Marina, north of Luna Pier. The caller told dispatchers he believed he saw what could be a dead body on the shoreline south of the marina.

Monroe County responded to the area and just before 7 p.m.,  a white male victim was located and recovered.

According to authorities, the body is that of a white male between 40 and 60 years old. He is bald witha light colored beard. He was wearing dark colored 'Big Mack' workwear pants with a brown belt. He was also wearing 'Fruit of the Loom' white briefs and size 9 Reebok DMX shoes with grey 'ACTI TRED' anti slip socks.
