MI Rep Simpson dies of heart attack

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Democratic state Rep. Mike Simpson has died of a heart attack he suffered while returning from the Cleveland Clinic.
House Speaker Andy Dillon made the announcement Friday evening on the House floor as lawmakers waited to vote on a series of education bills.
Simpson, from Jackson County's Blackman Township, has been ill with a rare blood disorder known as light-chain deposition. Dillon says the death occurred Friday.
The 47-year-old was serving his second term in the House.
Dillon says the House has lost "a guy who really cared and had a
passion for issues."
