TEMPERANCE, Mich. - Four guys from Southeast Michigan and Toledo are training for an event unlike any other they’ve ever encountered.

Bobby Merritt, Steve Ball, Jay Heasly and Eric Cukierski have gone through triathlons, marathons and other rigorous athletic competitions but now they’re training to run up and down the Grand Canyon (48 miles) in one day.

“Especially in society now all you see on the news most of the time are negative things,” said Bobby Merritt who is running to raise money for the Immune Deficiency Foundation and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. “We want something positive and we want to say publicly everyone can help here and make a difference just get behind us.”

Each of the men are raising money for various organizations like the Autism Society of America, Juvenile Diabetes, and the Kidney foundations.

The name of the group is Y NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. You can donate to each cause individually or as a whole.

Their run is on Aug. 22 and they are also in need of donations for protective gear like SPF technical shirts.
