Due to the Columbus Day holiday on Monday, Oct. 12, Toledo's refuse collection will once again "LEAP" forward a day. This means if your collection day was on Monday, it will now become Tuesday.
The City of Toledo introduced the new holiday refuse and recycling collection system on January 1st, this year. The system was designed to save money. No other cities in the local area have this system.
There are 13 designated "LEAP" days this year. The next observed LEAP-FORWARD day will be on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.
For a complete calendar of the 2009 Toledo refuse collection plan, click here or visit the city of Toledo's Web site . Additional information is available by calling the city's solid waste division at (419) 936-2510.
Citizens are also reminded that they are not to place their trash or recycling out prior to 7 p.m. the day before their refuse/recycling day.
