TOLEDO, Ohio - Longfellow Elementary's future in Toledo remains in the air after Toledo City Council members met with the community Tuesday evening.
They met with residents at Augsburg Lutheran Church to discuss a possible land swap between Toledo Public Schools and the city.
City officials wants to tear down Longfellow Elementary, replace it with green space, and build a campus-style setting for the elementary near Start High School.
"I think the real concern should be about the kids," said Jarrod Miklos, a Longfelllow parent. "It's going to be new technology for the children. It's going be safer, less traffic, less chances for kids to get hurt."
Plans were also laid out regarding the design of a possible new school.
Councilwoman Lindsay Webb said the issue will eventually go before the full council for a vote.
