TOLEDO, Ohio - There appears to be no imminent public health concern at the site of a proposed Toledo casino the Ohio Environmental Agency said in an e-mail to Toledo-area media.
Monday's preliminary review statement were the result of tests taken in September of a mysterious reddish-brownish substance that was found leaking into the Maumee River.
Dina Pierce, Ohio EPA spokesperson, said that "based on a preliminary review of the data, the data may indicate localized water quality impacts."
Pierce added that a complete technical review of the data will be done in the coming days.
The state EPA was dispatched to examine the Toledo casino site in September after a passing motorist noticed some kind of substance seeping into the river.
Toledo's casino site is located at 1968 Miami St., which on the Toledo-Rossford border.
Ohio registered voters will cast their ballot to approve or turn town four casinos across the Buckeye state to help jump-start the state's stagnant economy and bring new construction and permanent jobs.
The three other casinos will be located near Cincinnati,
Columbus and Cleveland.
