TOLEDO, Ohio - A new dining experience will open its doors this week in Toledo's South End. It's called Plate 21.

Not only is it bringing new tastes, it's bringing a classier appearance to the area, too.

The new storefront looks amazing, thanks to a grant from the city, and the sidewalk received a makeover as well.

The street lamps used to be grey and worn, but the owner got the city to give them a fresh coat of black paint.

Sandy Spang used to rent out places in South Toledo. Now she's taking her first stab at owning her own place. It's called Plate 21. She named it after an old map she found that titled the area she wants to serve as "Plate 21."

Plate 21 is located at 3664 Rugby Dr., just off of Detroit Avenue, between Copland Boulevard and Glanzman Road. For now, it will offer coffee, tea, smoothies and sweets, like cheescake and other pastries. Eventually, it will expand the menu to offer soups, salads and sandwiches.

It also offers a nice ambience.  Spang decided to display glass works of art to represent "The Glass City."

Live entertainment is planned in the future to perform on the restaurant's interior stage.

Plate 21 is holding its grand opening on Tuesday, September 29.
