JetAmerica delays departure date

Low-cost air carrier JetAmerica, which announced service out of Toledo Express in late May, has decided to delay its inaugural flights from July 13 to Aug. 14.

The airline was to have started nonstop service from the Glass City to Newark, NJ, and Melbourne, Fla., July 13, but the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority said JetAmerica has delayed all service until Aug. 14.

The port authority said the 31-day delay is due to unforeseen complications with landing and take-off time slots at Newark Liberty International Airport.

JetAmerica service to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metroplex is still planned to start Aug. 14, the same say the airline will start its service.

The port authority said those who have purchased advanced JetAmerica flights between July 13 and Aug. 13 will be provided a full refund. Toledo Express is also offering assistance to affected travelers

JetAmerica is expected to alert an estimated 6,486 passengers that their credit cards will be refunded of all charges for the July 13-Aug. 13 refunded flights. The refunds should appear on your bank e-statement between 7-14 business days.

JetAmerica said it will offer passengers who were originally booked on July 13-Aug. 13 flights special incentives ($10 reservation convenience fee, $20 first-check baggage fee, $10 seat assignment fee) to rebook on future flights when they call the airline's reservation center at (727) 451-3970.

Toledo Express is offering up to five days of free parking and will wave booking fees if they use travel consultant services through Atlas World Travel.
