MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Investigators are continuing to search for a 5-year-old Monroe girl who disappeared last weekend.
The Monroe County sheriff's department say the search continued Saturday. Nevaeh Buchanan last was seen Sunday evening in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Monroe, about 25 miles north of Toledo.
Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield has said there were at least two people "of interest," including a friend of Nevaeh's mother. Thirty-nine-year-old George Kennedy is in custody on an unrelated parole violation.
The department said in a statement Friday that preliminary results show DNA recovered from blood evidence related to Kennedy failed to match that of the girl. Tests were conducted by the Michigan State Police crime lab.
