TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - It's a statewide initiative coming from the Ohio Department of Health promoting breast feeding. But some think the ad can be a little distasteful.
The billboards can be seen throughout Toledo. It reads "Breast Milk Satisfies." But is it really having an affect on mothers?
Kirstie Deitzel is nine months pregnant. Although she's not sure if she's going to breast feed her child, she says other mothers might, that's why she thinks the campaign signs are pretty impressive.
"I think it's a good idea because breast feeding is better for the baby anyway," said Deitzel.
Employees with the Lucas County Health Department say the billboards are posted throughout Ohio. FOX Toledo News found some on Airport Highway, Reynolds Road, Monroe Street, and on the Anthony Wayne Trail.
The purpose of the ad? Health officials said it's to show that breast milk is the perfect food for infants and it's promoting the bond between a mother and a child.
"I think it's good because a lot of people don't really talk about it that much and I think moms should know it's ok it's a good thing to do it if your comfortable doing it," said Stacey Young
But some may see the billboard as disturbing. Stephanie Swan says she thinks promoting breast feeding is a good idea, but one of the ads she says is distasteful
"When I first saw it I thought, you know, I agree with breast milk, it's fine but then I saw it with the milk around its mouth and I though that was so unappealing. The baby's cute, but I did not like the milk coming out of his mouth" said Swan.
