Toledo City Councilman Joe McNamara, who is also the council president, is exploring the idea of running for the Ohio Senate.
Councilman McNamara is thinking about running for Sen. Teresa Fedor's seat.
McNamara said Friday that the Glass City needs an effective advocate in Columbus who will stand up for values and demonstrate leadership. He's put together a committee to figure out what's best.
He will make a decision at the end of the January 2010.
Fedor, a University of Toledo graduate and Air National Guard veteran with the 180th Fighter Wing, represents Ohio's 11th District. She is in her second term in the Senate and has been in the Ohio Legislature since 2000.
