Buy local this holiday season

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner wants you to buy local this holiday season.

The mayor held a news conference Tuesday morning asking everyone to buy local when they can. He made the plea outside of the Davis Building in Downtown Toledo, a building that has several locally owned stores inside.

Mr. Finkbeiner was joined by those businesses leaders, as well as Stacy Jurich, Toledo Choose Local executive director.

Besides just helping local businesses survive, TCL said buying local will also help the Glass City and greater Toledo economy.

"If each houseold in Lucas County redirected $100 of their spending to a locally owned business, it could add up to $8 million of revenue to our local economy," Jurich said. "So, when you buy local, more money is going to stay in our local economy and more money in our local economy will benefit everyone."
