12 arrested in gas station raid

Police target problem area, seize 3 guns

Monday morning Toledo police, state troopers and ATF agents centered in on a problem spot in the city of Toledo and made 12 arrests along with getting three guns off the streets.

The criminal crackdown took place Monday at a British Patroleum gas station on Counsel Lane and Detroit Avenue.

Detectives said the BP has become a hangout for gang members and others, many that may have committed violent crimes in the city.

Several crews raided the parking lot early Monday morning where over 100 people were hanging out. Toledo Police Deputy Chief Derrick Diggs said the crackdown was meant to send a message to criminals and would-be criminals.

"There has been a large amount of gun violence, shootings, and felonious assaults that have been occurring in the city over the last several weeks," Deputy Chief Diggs said. "We had to do something proactive and stop this.”

Three guns were seized while 12 people were arrested on an arraw of felony charges.
