TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - The orange barrels at Berdan and Willys is causing a major headache for those living in the neighborhood. Tina Scott who has lived in the area for 20 years says drivers trying to avoid the construction zones are speeding through her neighborhood.
Scott has served as block watch leader for 10 years, Scott says
"high flows of traffic and it keeps on coming and coming and people flying down the road. You got kids at willys park, you have the seniors at the hillcrest and willys park area.
Speed limit signs are clearing posted throughout, but it seems some are ignoring the signs. Another resident in the neighborhood has been living on Wallwerth for 40 years. But he says it's another hot spot, which seems to be getting worse as the years go by.
Matthew Chmiel who is a retired police officer who worked in the traffic bureau for years says " i've estimate some of the people coming down here are speeding an excess of 50 miles an hour."
Despite the frustration, Scott believes Toledo Police are doing everything they can. Scott says "they are doing their job, they've passed out numerous tickets and the people still at this time do not and will not slow down."
