VILLAGE OF OTTAWA, Ohio (AP) - Appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. says it will reopen a northern Ohio factory that was shut down when a Canadian company announced it could not find a buyer.

Whirlpool isn't saying yet how many people it will hire at the freezer factory in Ottawa when it reopens in January.

About 150 people lost their jobs when W.C. Wood Corp. said in November that it would close the plant. Earlier this month, a court approved Whirlpool's offer to acquire the factory.

Whirlpool says it plans to make freezers at the site through the spring of next year and will decide whether to continue production beyond that time.

The Benton Harbor, Mich.-based company has Ohio plants in Clyde, Marion and Findlay.
