BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - A Toledo man was in critical condition Monday morning after being assaulted in Bowling Green over the weekend.
Ronnell Johnson, 32, of Toledo, was hospitalized after the 2:40 a.m. incident, and subsequently was taken by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with reported multiple fractures.
Police were called to Fairview Manor Apartments at 1046 Fairview Ave. on a 911 call and reported stabbing. Officers found Johnson was on the ground, bleeding from the head and face, with his mother and a brother nearby. The brother told police he saw approximately eight male suspects assault Johnson.
While police interviewed witnesses, a vehicle pulled into the parking lot at a high rate of speed, and passenger Deon Shaye C. Taylor, 19, of the Fairview Avenue apartment complex and also a brother of the victim, jumped out the car, waving a board and threatening to cause harm.
A Bowling Green officer on scene drew his weapon and ordered Taylor to drop the board.
