TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - FOX Toledo News received a special honor from the Ohio National Guard, a Minuteman Award, for coverage of area military-related events, and airing of public service announcements.
Major General Matthew Kambic, Assistant Adjutant General for the Ohio Army National Guard, presented Gary Yoder, FOX Toledo’s General Manager, with a Minuteman Award.
The award recognized FOX Toledo News as being a leader when it comes to c overing military events in the region and airing public service announcements on-air.
Maj. Gen. Kamic said without the partnership between the Ohio Army and Air Force National Guard and the media, the state's guard would not be as strong. Currently Ohio’s Guard exceeds the national level when it comes to its strength and readiness. It's currently at over 110-percent.
He also touched on the upcoming fifth deployment for the the 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment out of Walbridge. The soliders will head to Afghanistan on what's being described as a tough mission.
