TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Maggie Zingman, an Oklahoma woman is in Northwest Ohio pushing for stricter DNA laws, and raising awareness to the 2004 rape and murder of her daughter, Brittany Phillips.
Zingman has traveled through 38 states and stopped in Toledo Monday on her "Caravan to Catch a Killer."
She was seen passing out fliers and talking to police officers about the unsolved case. Zingman just wants justice for her daughter.
Zingman's ultimate goal is for every state to take a suspect's DNA at arrest instead of at conviction. It's something that she says Ohio is doing already, and it's going to help police.
"They're going to have fewer cold cases, fewer unsolved cases," Zingman said. "The police workload will go down two-thirds."
Zingman said no parent should have to go through what she did some six years ago.
After Toledo, Zingman will bring her message to Chicago.
