'Nemo' helps boost attendance to 250K

TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Attendance numbers for the Lucas Co. Arena surpassed the 250,000 mark Sunday as people packed into their seats to watch the seventh and final installment of Disney on Ice: Finding Nemo. Sunday's show continued the trend started by the other six shows of generating large crowd numbers.

The attendance number includes, not only shows like the Findign Nemo show, but Toledo Walleye games and musical acts that come to the venue.

“I think this goes to show that there are two things Toledoans love - hockey and concerts. This is a great milestone for us, and we appreciate the continued support of the community. We hope to maintain our strong attendance numbers with our lineup in 2010,” said SMG General Manager Steve Miller.

Friday, the Walleye play the Cincinnati Cyclones and hope to cntinue their trend of competing before a large crowd. The freestyle motocross show Gravity Slashers will be the next special event when riders take tot he air Feb. 19.
