MONROE, Mich. - AMBER ALERT UPDATE: Five-year-old Nevaeh Amyah Buchanan of Monroe, Mich., is still reported missing.
Police throughout Monroe County, Mich., are asking for anyone who may have seen something "odd" at the Charlotte Arms Apartments on Macomb Street between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday night, may 24, to call 9-1-1 or the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at (734) 243-7070.
Monroe County Sheriff deputies told FOX Toledo News hundreds of people have been interviewed since Sunday evening in regards to the disappearance of the little girl.
At around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, Nevaeh was riding a scooter in the parking lot of her apartment complex in the 1100 block of Macomb Street when she was apparently abducted.
A friend went to tell Nevaeh's mother, Jennifer Buchanan, that her daughter was riding in the street, Buchanan said.
When she went outside, Nevaeh was missing. The scooter she had been riding was found in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
Monroe police and Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene. As of 8 a.m., Monday, May 25, the apartment complex was blocked off by police vehicles.
The Monroe County Special Response Team, as well as several canine units have been called to the scene to assist in the search.
An Amber Alert has also been issued nationwide, Detective/Sergeant Heath Velliquette told FOX Toledo News.
This case is more concerning than most missing children cases because Nevaeh’s been missing for such an extended period of time, searches and checks with family and friends have turned up nothing, and the chilly weather is a concern for her health and well-being.
Nevaeh was wearing a red, white and blue striped shirt, knee length blue jeans, but no shoes or socks when she went missing.
If you have any information on the alleged victim, abductor or vehicle, you’re being urged to call 9-1-1 or Monroe County Sheriff's Office at (734) 243-7070.
