Little Shots day camp

SYLVANIA, Ohio (WUPW) - While Crystal Bowersox is on tour with American Idol, her star power is making a big difference locally for some kids who have diabetes in common with the singer.

For a few days each summer, Olander Park in Sylvania is home to the Little Shots Day Camp. It's for kids 6 to 9 years old.

This is a program put on by Diabetes Youth Services, and these kids have Type 1 diabetes.

This year the message for treatment is reaching even more children than it usually would, thanks to someone who's living proof of that: Bowersox.

Trinity Lutheran in Elliston have raised money from t-shirt sales earlier this year to sponsor about 40-percent of these happy campers.

The day camp runs through Thursday, July 29. Thursday.
