HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Randy Jackson. Ellen DeGeneres. Kara DioGuardi. Simon Cowell.
As judges, their opinions really matter on American Idol.
In Hollywood, the Top 12 contestants bank on their comments and criticism.
Season 9 is shaping up to be another great competition. Many are still undecided who will be the next American Idol, but when it comes to the judges, those outside Universal Studios are quick to answer.
"Simon Cowell."
"I like Simon because he's just a favorite. He tells it how it is. He doesn't sugarcoat anything. He tells you exactly what happens, and how it is."
So what about Ellen?
"I think she's good for a guest judge, but she doesn't know enough to stay on there for a long time."
Of course some of the contestants have an opinion.
"I watch Ellen's show religiously, so I love her, but really I love all of the judges," said Katie Stevens. "They have so much to bring, I know it's cliche' because I can't pick one out of the crowd, but they all have great things to contribute to your growth."
"I really respect Kara as a song writer," added Didi Benami. "When she said last time when I did 'Lean on Me,' that it was bad, it broke my heart."
No matter the favorite, these four judges have tough job, and their opinions matter when deciding these singers fate.
