TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Ex-Toledo Public Schools business manager Dan Burns pleaded not guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to 25 counts, which include theft, tampering with records and pattern of corrupt activity.

Burns, who was found guilty of racketeering, theft in office, and records tampering in July after stealing more than $155,000 from the Cleveland Public School District, was indicted on a combined 25 counts by the county grand jury. The charges are from 2002-06.

He's accused of stealing $659,999 in fraudulent payments to two Toledo-area businesses. A state audit accused Burns of taking the money as part of a plan to buy things like copy machines that were never delivered.

Burns will remain behind bars in Lucas County jail until his trial in December. He will received time served while in Toledo toward his six-year prison sentence from Cyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

If found guilty on those 25 counts, Burns could be sentenced up to an additional 133 years in prison.
