TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Elton John is to appear live in Toledo in April for the first time in 17 years. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform Sunday, April 25, at the Lucas County Arena.

Although no stranger to Ohio, the late April gig at the new Downtown Toledo arena will mark his first return to Toledo since an October 1993 performance at Centennial Hall.

Sir Elton and his band will perform their "Rocket Man –the Greatest Hits Live" concert, featuring No. 1 chart hits and classic album tracks from throughout his incredible five-decade career.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 13, at 10 a.m.

Tickets are $139, $89, $39, and will be available through all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com , the Lucas County Arena box office and charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000. A service charge is added to each ticket except at venue box office. There is a six ticket limit per customer.

“We are excited to be able to host such a legendary artist at the new Lucas County Arena," said Steve Miller, Lucas County Arena general manager. "This is going to be a fabulous show for our market. We look forward to welcoming Elton John back to our community of Toledo where he has not performed in over a decade. I am certain this will be the hottest ticket since the opening of Lucas County Arena.”

Elton’s band comprises Davey Johnstone on guitar, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion, Nigel Olsson on drums and Kim Bullard on keyboards. One of the most successful live acts on the road today, Elton and his band put on the kind of show you never forget: the entire audience standing, dancing and singing along with much-loved classic songs such as “Your Song”, “Daniel”, “Rocket Man”, “Bennie and the Jets” and many, many more.

The monumental career of Sir Elton, an international singer/songwriter and performer, spans five decades. He is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, with 35 gold and 25 platinum albums, 29 consecutive Top 40 hits, and he has sold more than 250 million records worldwide. John holds the record for the biggest selling single of all time, “Candle in the Wind ‘97,” which sold 37 million copies. Since his career began in 1969 he has played almost 3,000 concerts worldwide.
