Car dealers on the rebound

TOLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Are local car dealers finally seeing the good numbers the auto makers have seen as of late? As it turns out, the trickle down effect in the auto industry is making now the perfect time to be in the car business.

Car Dealers at the Toledo Auto Show are the happiest they've been in years. After three years of below average sales, many had their best year ever in 2011. They say, it all has to do- with the product.

Auto sales nationwide reached 12.8 million vehicles sold in 2011. That's a 10% increase from the previous year. 2011 was also the auto industry's best year, since 2008.

"Back in 2007-2008, it was very difficult times, we had to change our business model, it was very difficult to raise money but wow, how things have changed now. You look around the auto show tonight, every manufacturer has great product, no body is talking about bailouts anymore. what they're talking about is products and dealers are doing really well." Says Bobby Jorgensen, President of Kistler Ford.

When the manufacturers are doing bad, the dealers are doing bad. But that isn't the case anymore. Especially for the big three automakers. Ford, General Motors and Chrysler posted their best numbers in a decade. And finally, the dealers are bouncing back at the same as the manufacturers.

"Business every year is getting better. The domestic manufacturers are back big time, their products they're coming out with are amazing. We're looking for 2012 to be a better year than 2011. The automotive world looks very good looking into the future right now." Says John Yark of the Yark Automotive Group.
