MAUMEE, Ohio - They're called The Nu-Tones, and they're bringing the 1960s British Invasion to Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in the 21st Century.
"We wanted to play very happy, very fun dance music, that no one in town or the area is touching on," said Doug Agosti, drummer and vocals.
The 1960s era of music and showmanship is this band's specialty.
"That was the crescent, the pinnacle of rock and roll," Agosti said. "Stuff that everyone in in the band really loves. So we thought, let's bring it to an audience and bring it live, like they've never heard before."
Inspired by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Kinks, The Nu-Tones play energetic covers at places like the Village Idiot in Maumee.
The Nu-Tones complete their look with leather jackets and red ties.
"We always go with some type of uniform look."
That band unity goes a long way, and has proven to form lasting bonds within these guys.
"We're like brothers. It's like one big family."
The members of the Nu-Tones said after years of performing together, they have no plans of stopping anytime soon. It's their goal to bring back the fun songs of the past.
"It attracts a wide audience," said Paul Juhasz. "We have college kids here, retirees here, so it tends to be attractive to a lot of different people."
