TOLEDO - Hugh Rock really does focus on the fun.

Whenever the band entertains, the bar becomes more like a comedy club, and they don't mind being the butt of a joke.

"Nothing is off limits, nothing is sacred in our band," said Jim Kenzie, lead singer. "Making ourselves the brunt of a joke kind of takes the tension off. We're buddies, we have a good time together. we're not a soloist band, and we try to make each other laugh."

"It's contagious and the crowd picks up on that."

Kenzie adds it's important to have a good time up on stage, because patrons are paying to see and experience a fun show.

"We'll change the words to songs on the fly to be humorous, or at least we think that we are humorous."

On a more serious note though, Hugh Rock are pretty good friends. Jim and Ed Steiner have been playing together in some form or another for the past nine years.

Their goal is to put a creative spin on famous songs that music connoisseurs know and love.

"If people are coming to hear us and they're gracing us with their presence. We're going to play whatever they want."

When not entertaining on stage, the members of this band have a syndicated radio show.

Needless to say, they love performing.

The next big gig for Hugh Rock is on St. Patrick's Day and the Toledo Mainstreet Bar and Grill.
