TOLEDO - 2-Way doesn't mind the work at all. He makes it sound so easy.
That's because for about three years of his life, music had to be set on the back burner. He spent three years in the Army and was stationed stateside in Colorado.
2-Way, also know as David Terrell Casey, knows from life experience, pursuing your dreams can be a challenge.
"My brother sent me this little bitty synthesizer and you can make beats, but I didn't have a keyboard so I was pressing buttons like a video game. I was out in the desert doing different things. It was hard, but whenever I was on guard duty, I did a lot of singing and made up a lot of nice music."
The Glass City artist is a cut above the rest because he has a lot of experience under his belt.
"When I was five or six, I really fell in love with music," 2 Way said. "About eight is when I really made up my mind that I was actually going to pursue it."
2-Way took things one step at a time, learning the ropes of writing, rapping, and even producing.
"I do a lot of things that other rappers don't do."
According to his biography, 2-Way was inspired by 1990s new jack and R&B artists Jodeci, H-Town, Mint Condition, R. Kelly and Boys II Men.
Music is in his soul.
"I just kept it going as far as mentally and in my heart. It really helps a lot because I don't wait around for nobody you know? If I need singing on a track, I can do it, if I need a beat, I can make it."
2-Way is putting the finishing touches on a body of work call "Destined for Greatness." Fans can pick up his music at Wright Tyme Studio at Bancroft and Franklin in Central Toledo.
"I'm destined for greatness, so world, get ready, for the true phenomenon known as 2-Way!"
