NAPOLEON, Ohio - Doug Pelmear, president of HP2g of Napoleon, has a product that could change the automotive industry.

The Napoleon businessman said his business, which opened June 1, will soon begin production of a V8 engine, which claims can get 110 mpg. The engine will also produce just half of the emissions of current cars.

The interesting thing - the HP2g engine does not have a catalytic converter.

"What I see is things changing where you don't need that catalytic converter," Pelmear said. "The price of a converter is very costly because it's made of platinum. It burns the fuel that your engine does not burn, so my engine is burning that fuel."

Pelmear promoted his 1987 Ford Mustang that had a 400 HP, V8 engine inside it during January's North American International Auto Show at cobo Hall in Detroit.

He announced that the HP2g engine will be used in a luxury performance car and passenger car, both made by Revenge Designs. The Revenge GTM-R was unveiled at the 2009 north American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The HP2g plant currently employs about a dozen people, but they hope to add more employees soon.
