FOX TOLEDO NEWS - Investing is a good idea if you want a secure retirement, but many investments come with a fee attached.
You are going to have to pay fees for certain funds, how much you're charged depends on the fund.
With an A share, a max 6-percent up front.
With a B share, there's no upfront, but you pay to get out. They aren't sold much these days.
With a C share you pay one-percent annually.
It sounds good, but after a while that adds up.
Share A is generally considered the best, because you usually have a fund for a long time. If you don't want to hold it for very long, Share C will work.
Just remember when you are comparing funds, compare an A to an A share, and a C to a C share.
Bottom line: if you can handle the fee and you're happy with the return, everyone can be happy.
