Barrett Andrews is a reporter for FOX Toledo News and FOX Toledo
News Weekend.
Barrett joined the FOX Toledo News team in the fall of 2004.
He started as a "stringer" for the station, using his own camera to
provide video of news events like car accidents and fires in his
hometown of Perrysburg.
Not long after that, Barrett became a freelance weekend
assignment editor -- making phone calls, listening to police and
fire scanners, and planning out the day's stories.
He officially became a FOX Toledo News staffer in the spring
of 2005 as a part-time weekend graphic artist while he continued
chasing flashing lights across Wood County as a spot news
photojournalist. When the scanners were silent, he made it a
priority to learn every news and production job around the station.
That training has paid off because now, in addition to his
usual reporting duties, Barrett also fills-in behind-the-scenes as
everything from a graphic designer to producer.
A weather junkie and National Weather Service-trained storm
spotter, Barrett's usually out storm chasing during severe weather
or alongside Doug Moats and Bruce Slusher in the Stormtracker
Weather Lab.
When he's not at FOX Toledo, Barrett works for the
Rossford Fire Department
as a part-time firefighter. In whatever spare time is left, he
shoots still photos that you can check out on
his Flickr page.
